Name: Bird’s Nest Sanserveria
Scientific Name: Sansevieria trifasciata Hahnii
Family: Asparagaceae
Product Description
Sansevieria trifasciata 'Hahnii', also known as Bird's Nest Sansevieria, is a compact and attractive variety of the commonly known Snake Plant. Forms a tight rosette of dark green leaves with lighter green horizontal stripes. The leaves are thick, succulent, and have a glossy finish. The rosette shape gives it a bird's nest-like appearance. This is a dwarf variety, reaching only about 6 to 8 inches (15-20 cm) in height and spreading to a similar width. Produces fragrant, greenish-white flowers on a slender spike in spring under optimal conditions, but flowers and fruit seldom manifest on indoor specimens. It is hardy in USDA zones 10 to 12 and is primarily grown as a houseplant in cooler climates due to its sensitivity to cold.
Origination: West Africa for wild variety. 'Hahnii' was discovered in 1939 by William W. Smith Jr. in the Crescent Nursery Company, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Recommended Uses: Ornamental Height: 8”
Hardiness: USDA 10+
Flower Color: Green/White
Other Names: Snake Plant, Mother in Law’s Tongue
Growing Instructions:
Prefers moderately bright or filtered light. Good locations include a spot in front of a north-facing window or a bright, sunny window covered by a sheer curtain. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water deeply until water drips through the drainage hole, then discard the water in the saucer. Never let the soil become soggy. Thrives at average room temperatures. Protect the plant from drafts and cold temperatures as it is damaged below 50°F (10°C). Prefers moderate humidity levels. Mist occasionally if the air is too dry. Feed with a diluted, balanced fertilizer once every three weeks during the summer. Sansevieria is a light feeder, and too much fertilizer can cause the leaves to fall over.

Ships in the 3.5” pots shown in the pictures. You will receive a plant that is very similar to the plants pictured however they may have grown some or depending on the time of year, they could be semi-dormant. Some plants will drop their leaves in winter - Crown of Thorns, Buddha Belly Jatropha, Etc. I have only grown plants in Florida and will send out anything I feel comfortable will grow here. It is up to you to know the conditions that these plants grow in the part of the country you reside. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it for you. Please contact me with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery of your plants. It is my duty to get you a live healthy plant- a few broken leaves or small stems not counting as this is normal. After 24 hours, my job is done and it is up to you (The buyer) to know how to keep it alive. Again, we cannot guarantee that some leaves won’t be broken or fall off- It is normal to lose some depending on the variety (Sedum, Echeveria, Cotyledon, Graptopetalum, etc...). Many kinds of leaves will re-root and grow into a new plant. Some that do not are Cotyledon and Aeonium.
